Flamingo Adoption
At-a-glance: Caribbean flamingos live in brackish (a mixture of Salt and Fresh water) water, lakes and lagoons along the Atlantic coast of subtropical and tropical America. They are bright pink because they eat carotenoid, which is found in crustaceans, like krill and shrimp. Without carotenoid, their feathers will fade or turn white.

Conservation status: Least Concern
Omaha Zoo location: Simmons Aviary
